Addresses

To enable the Commission to carry out its world-wide task efficiently and effectively, it has established offices where there are major concentrations of Commonwealth war graves, each supervising the work within its ‘area’. These offices are at Arras in France, Ieper in Belgium, Rome in Italy and Leamington Spa in the United Kingdom. In addition, Outer Area, based at the Commission’s Head Office in Maidenhead, United Kingdom, is responsible for the maintenance of Commission sites on over one hundred countries, not covered by the other offices.

There are also small out-stations such as those at Canakkale opposite the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey, at Ramleh in Israel, at Thessaloniki in Greece, Helipolis in Egypt, and in Tunis and Nairobi.

The Commission also has an Agency Office in Ottawa responsible for sites in both Canada and the United States of America, whilst the South African Agency operates in South Africa and Namibia. The Office of Australian War Graves in Canberra covers Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, whilst in New Zealand, the Department of Internal Affairs supervises the maintenance of sites in New Caledonia, the Society Islands, Tonga, Vanuata and Western Samoa, as well as both the North and South Islands of New Zealand. In India an Honorary Liaison Officer assists the Commission in its dealings with the central authorities.
